Cakeria logo design concepts

Last week I competed for the position at Clearhead media. One part of the hiring process was developing a logo and motion graphics. Nevertheless in this blog post I will speak just about the logo concept designs. (there are 3)

The brief is about a local cake shop ‘cakeria’ who are looking for a full rebrand. They want something vibrant and modern.

Out of the box design for description read bellow.

The task was to create 3 concepts that highlight the following:
One that is very corporate
One that is ‘out of the box’
One somewhere in the middle

Corporate design

Corporate logo should be simple but representative. Because it is a cake shop I chose the warm colors representing the layers of the cake. It is more simplistic so it can be easily recognized from distance and it is easy to covert to black and white palette if required.

“Out of the box design”

Out of the box logo was part of the concept where you can create almost anything, or fulfil some crazy ideas. The idea for this concept came straight out of its name. CAKERIA as a new world, fantastic land full of cakes, where the world is floating on a giant muffin in space.
I also included black and white version of the logo.

“Middle” design
For the idea of this concept I chose more modern approach while designing the logo. The aim is that logo is modern, easily recognizable and it is a compromise between too corporate or too “out of the box” (wacky) logo.  The rounded letter shapes with “warm-cakey” colors combination should represent the charisma of cakes. The letters are put closely together, where in some instances letter bodies share their graphical elements. In idea it should symbolize the connection as the fine ingredients create the flavours and cake itself.
